Default Torque on wheel bolts

How much torque should I apply when remounting my wheels? After changing a flat I dont know if it is tight enough.....I dont want it to fall out when driving

Thanks

umm... no. the stock honda wrench is nearly a foot long, so you are putting 145ft-lbs on it.

In order for you to actually get 80ft lbs by standing on it, the wrench would have to be about 6.5" long...

Don't forget to re-torque after about 100 miles

I don't get it... you torqued them properly and then stepped on the wrench to overtorque them...

were you leaning on the side of the car or something? Torque wrenches are very good investments

if you do that, you're putting 160-180 FT.lb. on your lugts. i jus lean on the bar with my arm and half my body weight. it usually torques its to about 100ftlb.

i'd be afraid of snapping the wheel stud, applying extra force in teh wrong direction. especially if you are bobbing up and down on teh bar

Sometimes that what it takes if they weren't torqued properly to begin with. I'm just over 180lbs and I was rotating the tires on my woman's civ. I had to pull so hard that the car was rocking. The last idiot that put them on must have been using an airgun...

I usually hit it as hard as I can with a sledge hammer until it doesn't go anymore.

Just so I can save a fight I was just joking.

again... you are overtorquing your wheels... You aren't going to lose one if you put 150ft/lbs of torque on it and it only requires 80...
