Default tire size question

i have p205/55r15 tires on my car i am going to put falken azenis on but i cant find any 55r15 so im gonna go with 205/50r15. the guy at the tire place said they will fit but its a smaller tire and will be a little worse on gas mileage. how bad would it make my gas mileage?

205/50-15 is what your supposed to run to keep the speedo reading correctly. It wont effect gas mileage, whoever told you that is stupid. 5mm in sidewall difference isnt anything.

haha thanks man the car is an ex and i took the tires off an old del sol they were alot wider than those skinny oem ones. I plan to put my b18c back in my car when ever i have it paid off so i thought some azenis would be real nice addition.
