Timing Belt Snapped, Fixed. Now VTEC and Idle is erratic.
Sp my timing belt snapped, fixed it... just slapped a belt on.. now i left my car alone for a while. Then started it back up and the idle was erratic and i tried VTEC and it doesn't work... also changed the spark plugs, oil, coolant, etc.
Anyone know why after the timing snapped, the idle and the VTEC are messed up?

and it probably bent some valves and now your valves are not sealing against the head properly, or you didnt install your timing belt correctly and bent valaves that way or you didnt set the timing on your car correctly...

Is your check engine light on?
Honda engines are interference designs. You don't wait for the belt to snap and then change it, you follow the maintenance schedule and replace it before it snaps. Otherwise you could easily do a crapload of damage.

Exactly. Take the belt bacl off and set the crank and cam(s) to TDC. Once you've done that you can put your timing belt back on. Use the search function to get a good rightup of the whole process.
Also, when you tried to engauge vtec, where you in motion or just sitting in your drive way? was the car warmed up? Please explain the conditions of when you tried to engauge vtec.

some other things that could cause an erratic idle is air bubbles in the cooling system. i have also seen it be erratic then the throttle cable is to tight... as for the vtec part check the timing like everyone else is saying... if you cant get a write up offline for it do to your local Autozone (or similar store) and just buy a Haynes manual.. they come in handy anyways.
