Re: timing belt help plz!!!!
take off the timing belt cover line up the marks on the crankshaft gear pully to the mark on the motor, then loosen the tenstioner take the belt off the cam gear, put the cam gear where it is suposed to be with the up side facing up or arrow and if there is the two dots on the sides of the cam gear line those up with the top of the head under the valve cover, then put the belt back on, every thing should be lined up and in time and spin the crank counterclockwise until all the slack is on the tentioner side and i usually use a prybar or something to make the tenstioner tighter and tighten the bolt... then spin the crank and make sure there is no slack ne where

i believe on the d series there is the up mark on the cam gear and there are two lines on the front sides of the cam gear, you line up the two lines with the cylinder head on either side of the cam gear, and you set the crank timing by lining up the timing marks on the crank sproket, and the block, but you need to make sure you have the right timing belt, make sure you used the belt that you supposed to with the mini me swap, i cant remember which one it is but you need to look it up, make sure you spin the motor over by had multiple times after tightening the belt tensioner to line up the timing marks multiple times, if it continues to line up after turning the motor over by hand then it will be obvious its in time

you might wants to change the tension too.. It really hard to see where the marks are on the engine. Gonna need a very good flash light.. I had my engine out the bay so it was eazy to see.. d15 belt a bit bigger than the d16 belt..I think..

Other way and actually my preferred way to line up the timing mark on the crankshaft is to take the pulley off and use the mark(line) on the crankgear and line it up with the mark on the oil pump.
Using a z6 or y7/y8 belt is what you should be using and its been a while but I believe there is a timing mark on the cam gear that you have to line up with the "pointer" on the timing cover piece that is part of the head. and "up" should be on top.
Also make sure your pvc system is complete and hooked up from breather box to the IM. Cause this will surely cause your car to act like you are describeing.
And yes, I did a mini-me with a y8 head on a a6 block

Re: timing belt help plz!!!!
get a timing light and make sure its set a 12* btdc (red mark on the y7 crank pulley) with the service connector jumped by ur ecu in the green rubber plug as if u were going to check ur CEL codes. this makes it so the ecu does not adjust timing from other sensors while ur setting ur timing. also make sure u hook the timing gun pick up on number 1 cylinder. also make sure the motors warm when u do this.. see if that makes any difference. have u replace ur cap and rotor recently or is it old? you could take it apart and clean the connections from corrosion. i know my car was bogging bad because the ignition was breaking up bad with a poor spark. if cleaning it helps then buy a new cap n rotor.

Re: timing belt help plz!!!!
Okay so this is an automatic car????? Right?? and you have a mark on the lower timing cover that shows TDC at 12 degrees you line it up with the red mark on the balancer pully!! Your Y7 belt is fine you only have to change it if you are putting a vtec head on a 1.5. This is a very common problem that you are having and it very well could be Ignition but the first thing to check for no power at top end and is your ground wires Honda's feed off of grounds a lot and if you dont have them hooked up you will lose power... Check the ground on the thermostat housing valve cover and tranny that they are all connected and making good connections, then worry about cap and button at that point but if the car is an auto then you probably just need to adjust the kick-down cable hooked to the throttle body...it will cause it not to kick down like it should and cause the clutches inside the auto tranny not to lock in like they should. And you should gap the plugs at 42...

Re: timing belt help plz!!!!
Did you put the Intake Manifold off of the EX on the Vtec head... If not it would be best there is a HUGE diffreance in them but you will need to get one off of and automatic with the 3 wire IACV
