Default Time for a camber kit!

If anyone ever tells you that you don't need a camber kit when you lower your car, DON'T LISTEN!!!!! I knew I needed one, but I didn't realize just how important it was until this happened.
shitty, shitty, shitty... Good thing it's coming off the road in less than 2 weeks!

I had that bitch aligned and everything. never had the tires rotated though. I didn't notice it until about a month ago, and it wasn't even that bad then. But then monday night I was coming home from work and I could feel it jerking hard to the left. I knew right then what it was. The hole where the air was coming out of was huge!!! It was just a big spot where the tire just wore right through. I'll prolly end up w/the Skunk2 camber kit. Just like I should've done the first time around!

how much does an average camber kit usually cost? I'm getting an alignment pretty soon and some new tires, and I want these tires to last.
I heard that I wont need a camber kit for the front, just the rear, is this true? let me know...

yeah, only the front 2 were worn. The backs were fine, so they're up front now, and I've got 2 14"steelies on the back. Like I said, I only need it for 2 more weeks!

Fronts are espensive, and rears are cheap or cheaper than the fronts. And actually, you should have a camber kit for the front also. I am probably going to get some skunk 2's too.

what tire pressure did you run? Do you know what your camber/toe settings were? It does not look like just a camber issue.

who told you you don't need a camber kit>? you should go smack them in the face w/ a wire from that poor tire! Most cars when you lower them past 1 1/2 " NEED a camber kit .. also depends on what you are riding on , springs - coilovers -- I have had better luck w/ springs honestly! (i had coilovers on my old hatch and that those things killed my tires).. i have my sol lowered 1.7 on eibach sportlines and kyb struts and the tires barely wear at all..

What are you talking about? How can a coilover "kill your tires"? There is no difference between the camber of a coilover vs. a spring/shock combo, just adjust the coilovers to the proper height. Camber is directly related to ride height, that is what double wishbone is all about.

If you lower your car, you have to get a camber kit. You will have negative camber and it will wear the inside of your tires out much more rapidly. Not buying a camber kit is kinda dumb because your will spend the money either way. You can a) spend it on a camber kit and lower your car the correct way or b) spend it on another set of tires because your old pair still has half the thread but the inside is bald. Tires are much more expensive to replace all the time than just shelling out the couple hundred bucks for the camber kit in the first place.

Yes, at one point they were. Now I'm running the rear yoko's up front and some BFGoodrich cheapies on the rear w/some 14's. Shitty, but it'll work for what I need.

coilovers give your car more of a bounce which constantly changes camber on your vehicle in which springs ride at more a consistent height .. so next time you try and talk **** know what you are at least talking about..

Something must just be wrong with your car then. Your off-set must be terrible or something. I have had my car lowered from 2.75-3.5" for a year and a few months, and my tires didn't look anywhere near that bad. How could they wear out so quickly? Also, make sure when you get an alignment to tell them to put your toe back to factory settings.
