Default ticking/tapping from INTAKE MANIFOLD???!!!!

i'm getting a ticking sound from the engine....it comes and goes, and it's prettty inconsistant.....it SOUNDS like it's coming from the REAR of the engine, perhaps in/under the intake manifold.....it KINDA sounds like a misadjusted valve, but i JUST GOT THE VALVES adjusted this weekend....any ideas?

it's not LOUD, like a knock or slap, it's just a small annoying "tick", kinda like injectors, but very incosistant....tic...tic..tictictic....tic...tic.. ..tic..... it ONLY does this at WARM idle, not all the time, and once i press the gas, it goes away and doesnt come back

Could this be a rod knocking?

well, it's really not THAT loud, but it's noticable.....if it were a rod knock, i thought it would be pretty damn loud, but it's not TOO loud....also, it does this at WARM IDLE....when at cold idle, it doesnt do it.....and when it's at normal operation, like 2400-3400 rpm, you cannot hear it.....i'm stumped

did it start after you got your valves adjusted? if so i would just take it back so they can correct it quickly / hopefully for free.

no the tick came BEFORE the adjustment, and the reason why i had them adjusted was b/c i thought it was misadjusted valves.....the sound KINDA sounds like it's coming from the alternator, and after i did a search, found that some alternators TICK after some time....any input???

i was scared this could be a rod knocking, but some say that a knocking rod is VERY VERY noticable, and is loud and consistant throught the powerband....

HELP!

Remove the IAC (idle are control valve) and clean it with some carb cleaner or just replace it....

When I had my SOHC, I put a ZEX cam in and I had the same problem. So then me and my dad took off the valve cover and adjussted the valves. After that it still made noise, so we did it again this time a little tighter. And we ended up with the same noises. I finally just said it was the injectors. Just some personal exp.
