Default throttle upgrade

hello all,

i am new here. now, i had a question...hope someone can give me an idea.

my car is 98 civic si with b16a. i am now using an itr throttle with itr intake.

now i want to enlarge the throttle and upgrade the throttle plate to 70mm or greater (depends on how large the throttle can enlarge)

did anyone try this....any negative affect to this.

if you increase the size of just the T/B you will only see a couple of HP and really no gains faster wise..if you get the T/B bored to 70MM id get the intake manifold port matched to the T/B and you will see some nice gains..goodluck

i know that if your tb is 70mm straight through and not tapered youre going to loose power on a nat. asp. engine... and even if you get the spoon piece you wont see hp gains just better throttle response. $450 is alotta chedda.

1st: i assume you welded the manifold to open up the opening to 70mm because
otherwise it would hit the IACV passage
2nd: ITR throttle plate is 62mm
3rd: you will see NO gains by using such a large TB. ITR 62mm is the most ideal
size

hi sgt,

sure, i had welding the manifold and large the opening.
but as yr mentioned, NO gain for larger than 62mm, then
i need to re-consider it as it need about 150 to enlarge
the tb. actually, now i am using the mugen n1 dc2 computer
n is very satisfy. of course, i need more. any good suggestion.

anyway, many thanks.

well i could make some rude comment about the suggestion of english lessons, but i wont do that. i could also say something about no 98 si with a B16A (unless youre from canada and swapped in the B16A, since the 98 CA Si had a D16Y8 i think.) anyways, id look more into porting the head and getting a good header, as opposed to spending so much time on the intake manifold.
