Re: B16a Swap
you can't bar a JDM B16 in your civic. You have to get a USDM B16, either the B16A3 from an Obd1 Del Sol or the Obd2 B16A2 from the 96-97 Del Sol or 99-00 Civic SI. Me and my buddy just talked to the smog ref last week. We are in the inland empire area of so cal by the way, and he says, he will not pass a JDM motor what so ever. They are higher compression motors and he doesn't care if they have all the smog equipment on it. He will not visually pass it.
Best bet for you, is contact your local Ref Station, and ask him what your options are. And go from there. Cause from what I've seen on HT, alot of the ref's are different. Hope this helps.

Re: B16a Swap
Just some heads up, make sure you get a brand new Oem CAT and O2 sensor. And if your going aftermarket on headers or intake, make sure you have CARB numbers visible.

Buy a Skunk2 IM ... with CARB sticker ur straight .... or just look at my build thread.. u can use a GSR harness u just have to tuck like 3 plugs.. P30 Ecu is hard to find for me right now ... but ya. i got my motor from HMO and they are a big help with this. just tell them what car u got and what engine u wanna put in ..

I am going through this dilemma as well. I might register my car in Nevada to avoid all this headache.

I'm looking at the same swap or a b20 swap..best bet is to check regulations in the state before you even decide on the swap. I went through the same issue in florida looking to see what they will take and what they wont.
