Default thickest y8 gasket...

What's the thickest head gasket I can safely use on a d16y8 running 9-11lbs? I'm trying to lower the cr as much as possible.

The engine is already fully built... unfortunately for high comp. Not worried about the integrity of the internals: eagle h-beams, reman. crank, srp dish top pistons, everything was redone. The pistons yield a 10.5:1 cr with an oem gasket. The car now has a thinner cometic gasket, bringing it up to about 11.0:1 cr. I don't think an oem gasket will allow me to run 9-11lbs like I'm looking for. 10.5:1 is still pretty high.

Learn what the expletive you're talking about. They actually can take a fair amount of abuse, depending on the motor.

I would check out Cometic. I can't remember exactly how big mine is, but it's fairly big. I believe they do custom gaskets.

Yeha, I was more curious about how thick TOO thick, and unstable for a high compression motor boosted to 9-11lbs. I should probably call cometic, and ask them what they think. If they can tell me anything helpfull, I'll post it here, incase anyone else is interested.

Changing the pistons would be the safest but unfriendliest bet. I would think that too thick of a gasket could throw off numbers on other things.

I'd really rather not tear the block apart again. Especially with school starting back up! I think I'll be ok if I can get down to ~10.2:1, since the pistons are dish topped, and everything is forged. I'll be using colder spark plugs too. Really, I'm just kinda paranoid, since I've dumped so much time and money into this car. I just want it to last... and be one fast ****!

I was thinking you had dome pistons.. That woulda been a huge no no. I shoulda paid attention more and read that you did mention dish pistons.
