Thermostat installation
98 Civic EX 4-door D16Y8
I want to replace my thermostat. In the shop manual, it looks like the OEM thermostat comes with a rubber seal, and the housing that holds the thermostat and seal just comes apart with a couple of bolts and requires no gasket or gasket cement to put it back together. In other words, very simple even for me who is mechanically challenged.
Is that correct????
Thanks!

Re: Thermostat installation
Im pretty sure mine came with a rubber gasket, more like an o-ring. I haven't done a thermo in a lil bit so I can't be 100% sure, but Im fairly certain that it comes with an 0-ring.
That and some bolts is more then enough. Ive never had an issue.

Make sure the jiggle valve faces up. The rubber gasket fits around the edges of the thermostat. Pretty self explanitory. As it comes out so goes in the new one.

Yes. One single gasket/o-ring/seal fits around the thermostat, and remember it goes in jiggle pin up. Three bolts on the housing. Two hold it on, the other bolt holds the ground wire in place.
