is there a way to identify the heads of b series engines??

should be a stamp on the back.

There should also be some identification on the pistons.

..yeah PR3 mark head will be B16/ITR, P72 will be a GS-R head...LS is PR4 if i remember correctly.

not sure about the pistons identifying the head, and i thought the stamps are in the front on the exhaust side.

years are on the "front" (exhaust side)
ID # is on the "back" (intake side)

...P72 is gsr
LS is PR4 as well as P75

P72 is GSR
PR3 is B16/ITR</TD></TR></TABLE>

P72 is also the jdm itr 96-97 i think

no no no

ALL itr heads usdm and jdm are stamped pr3 just like b16/b17 heads. ONLY gsr and sir-g heads are stamped p72.

the only 2 i know are pr3-2 b16 gen 1 and pr3-4 b16a2 hope it helps

Date:

All b-series heads after certain year have 30 on dizzy side above where the vtec solenoid goes.
But yes all non gsr heads have PR3 on them.
