Default Is there any aftermarket 6-speed tranny's made for D-series blocks???

I've been looking around for 6-speed tranny's that are made for a d-series block and aftermarket 6-speed tranny casings and synchro kits conversions. Does anyone know of where to find these upgrade or have any information on this? thanks, A-Mil

i have never heard of anything other then a quaife sequential unit (that has to be modified to work on a honda block anyway) and that is 30k. why do you need a 6 speed? i am sure other will chime in and just tell you to get a K though....

ya sorry bud you gotta go with qaufie for that or do a K series swap.

If you are looking for good MPG or for hwy driving a z6 tranny with a CX/LX/DX 5th gear you would be set

we figured that but we wanted to try something different with a d-series tranny. myself and a few friends have been building up a D15b7 sohc motor, sofar we have CNC sleeved the block and are yet deciding on how far to bored over the block, one of the guys cam up with an idea of boring it big enough to use d16y8 pistons and using aftermarket high compression pistons for a tt supra since they r the same size as d16y8 pistons. we will be ising a y8 head gasket for the head we ordered a JDM D15b7 dohc v-tec head, did a 3-way valve job, and using titanium valve springs, ported the intake, and i've been working on a custom 4in. itb from a gsx-r using the steps from Homemadeturbo.com on how to make it were using a custom p28 ecu that we've reformated and chipped to our desires, skunk2 cams, adjustable camgears crowder rods. we've been in the process of building this motor for almost a year now. we have yet to find out if it will even run after we finish it

You sure? I thought the stock Z6 (EX) Tranny was longest out of the D-series...well longer than the CX/LX/DX...

The d15b7 tranny has the best gear ratio's for a d-series motor they are longer than an ex tranny. with my sedan bone stock i lined up against my friends moms bone stock ex coupe and i was pulling alot harder than what he was even though he had v-tec, i still won. With the d15b7 motor honda called it the 3 stage v-tec because unlike other motors for example the d15b2 or the d16y6 only have a low and high efficient displacement area but the d15b7 has a low mid and high efficient displacement interval that they will run at, unlike a v-tec motor that can lag in performance the d15b7 has a steady smooth but accurate increasing ratio of engine performance. i've been studying d15b7's for almost 2 years and reading up on the performance of them

Longest tranny that will fit on a D series is the VX tranny.

Oh little kids racing N/a sohc's.....

Dude, why invest X amount of time on an all motor d-series? You're modifying an econobox. The only way you're going to get any real power from it is to invest $30,000 on N/A stuff, or spend $600 for a homeade turbo.

I was not talking about the physical size of the tranny either, I was talking about the ratios. The tranny with the longest gears is the vx tranny, saves gas and all with longer gears.

Its called a hobby, thats why you invest x amount of time. X being the variable refering to "spare time"

i think i am starting to realise spending money on a car is getting to be as boring as a cheating girlfriend.....im going to a boniville 79, with no a/c....kidding, but i want a new car, something with a little more potential than a d-series...because i thought they were to bomb, now i hate mine..

and for the dude who thought the ex tranny was the longest, hey

to confirm that getting a 6 speed tranny for a d or spending ANY money on a D is worthless, and that ex trannys have the shortest gear ratios

Yea, in theory the vx tranny allows you to reach around 200mph

Sorry bud, but your forgeting th 88-91 HF trannys.

49 state got same 3.250 VX FD but a slightly longer .694 5th gear.
50 state got 2.95 FD, it is the longest.

But long gears doen't mean better fuel economy, just means your either gonna be downshifting or bogging the motor.

120 whp D15B7 (+35 whp pver stock), Close ratio tranny, 4.25 FD and .771 5th, just got 46 mpg in mixed city/highway driving, normally about 50 mpg on the highway.

Well it isn't my ******* question, is it? 'tis why I said "I thought" - I wasn't sure, so cram it

D-series suck to begin with, my D16 sucks...I don't know much about the other D series engines that suck MORE than my D16....
