Theft recovery Civic... stupid dash
My new 2000 Honda Civic is a theft recovery and the radio doesn't work. The dash lights are also inactive, and I think that has to do with the theft mode that the vehicle is in. I know that if I take it to a Honda dealer they will give me the code to reactivate the radio, but will the dash lighting come back as well? I figured that the unlit dash was part of theft mode... is this true?

afaik, dash lights have nothing to do with the radio code. does the radio display "code"? i assume you have checked fuses?

yes the radio says "code error"
and yes the fuses are fine, but the dash is still not backlit. The warning lights, blinker lights, hi-beam indicator and the gears are backlit on the dash, but not the gauges. Same with the air conditioner controls.
