Default temp problem

well i think my thermostat is bad because every time that i dont let my car warm up it doesnt stay warm. If im using the heat it stay really low to the cold level. But if i let the car warm up without the heat on for 5 or so mins it will stay warm and i can use the hear at full blast and it wont go down. so does that mean its my thermostat is bad?? and i already replace my radiator cap
