Default Tell me what you think of this????

A B18A1 (out of a teg) for $250, it has a auto trans, but im not using that, im going to swap it with my trans. ( its going into a 94 civ ex). It comes with ECU too.

Should I buy it???

There is also a Prelude there that has a DOHC looks like its from the early 90's, I have no clue the engine code do you guys know?? and if so, they are asking $250 for that one also. Is this a better deal than the Teg engine?

I think it sound almost too good to be true....no on the prelude motor. What is wrong with these engines? Are they stolen? Just REALLY curious.

$250 for the B18A1 is not bad but you cant use your tranny on it. If you are talking about the D16Z tranny. I know nothing about the prelude motor so I cant help you there.

Also with the b18A1 the ECU if from the same car as the motor will not run correctly. Auto ECU.

Ok, put down the tools and slowly back away to do some research.

a b-series motor (any b series motor) will require a b-series transmission. The only prelude motor worthy of being swapped into a Civic is the H22A, make sure of what motor it is. It will require alot more than $250 to get your car up and running.

Your Civic tranny will NOT bolt up to the Integra or Prelude engine.

Plus if the Teg motor is 1990 or 1991 then you'll have some wiring bullshit to do because the 1990-1991 Teg motors are pre-obd while you Civic is OBD1.

The Prelude motor in question is a pile of **** and it will not under any circumstances bolt into a Civic without some major cutting/welding or some sort of custom mounts.

Find a 1994-2001 Integra engine, tranny, ECU, wiring harness, axles, shift linkage, and mounts and only then will you be closer to a swap.

Lastly:

The 1990-1991 Integra motor only makse a measley 130hp - only 5 more than your EX motor.

I think the prelude is F20 something, dont worry about it cause it should not be going in any EG or EK!

Actually the 1988-1991 Prelude motor is a B20A motor, and unlike the CR-V B20 it is a pile of **** motor with totally different mounting points, and it gets it's 2.0L by stroke and not by bore, so they blow up easier if driven hard.

I work at a shop that only does Hondas and Acuras and the 1988-1991 Ludes have the most motor-related problems hands down.
