Default Tech people help me out here...

I was riding along tonight, my cel came on. I pulled over, went to check the codes(yes I know the proper way to check codes)...no codes stored, turn car back on, no cel. This is the second time its done this. A while back I was throwing code 43, I replaced the 02 with the one off my old D series motor(hatch has a b18b swap, 02 was pretty new) and put in a new fuel filter. You guys got any clue whats going on? I seem to be getting shitty gas mileage as well, about 200~250miles to a tank, you think my 02 might be beginning to crap out on me even if it is relatively new? I still don't understand why my car won't store this latest code it has been getting, its as if the engine get pissed for a second and then fixes its own problem. Note, when the cel gets thrown there is no decrease in driveability at all, I am just driving along and it pops up. It also seems to only throw it in cold weather(50s tonight)

Car is a 94dx hatch with an LS swap

Hmm..my car did this one time to me...does it just go away on it's own or do you have to reset the ECU to get it off??

43 is a rich condition code. and if i am correct, unless it is a failure in the circuit, it wont store it. so if you shut the car off, it will reset. especially if it isnt a Hard Code which is a circuit failure, or unplugged scenerio. i have had numerous 43's or the rich code, and shut the car off and turned it on while driving. if it were an OBD 2 car it would store and only go off if it has been through a few drive cycles and not occured again.

I don't reset the ECU, all I do is turn the car off and then turn it back on and its gone. When it was throwing code 43, I could at least check it when I turned the car off. I would turn the car off, jump the blue connector and then turn the power back on and read the code. Now, I can't even check the ECU to see what code is being thrown because apparently when I turn the car off the code just dissappears. BTW, thanks for the quick response fellas

like i said non obd 2 cars, will reset when the ignition is turned off and on again. unless it is a hard failure. but a parameter problem like a 43 will reset on cycling the key.

Oh, I see what your saying. So, with it being a parameter problem, I would assume she is fine to drive. Big for the help

fix the problem.you have a fuel delivery problem. start by checking fuel pressure. thats usually it, i have seen a tight valve or 2 cause it too.

Fuel pressure is 44psi...already checked it, ran through all the gears, a solid 44psi.

base of the plug itself was rich....the electrodes themselves were leaner, whiter than the base of the plug thats for sure. What should n/a plugs look like? Should they be nice and rich all over?

Okay, it did it again this morning. Once again, it was cold and I was warming the car up. This time, I tried to read the code with the car running, I jumped the jumper and nothing happened. The CEL didn't flash or anything. Turned the car off, jumped the jumper again, turned the key back to the on position, no code no more CEL

Edit: I don't know if this pertains, but my idle also fluctuates ~300rpm or so.....but I just figure that that is my IACV being screwed up. We cleaned it and it idled perfectly, then it eventually went back to fluctuating again....so I just figured it is going out.

I see the same type of thing...

Twice a month I will throw a cel. But it doesn't give me a MIL Code #. I have a damn strange idle as well. What did you use to clean the IACV? Brake cleaner?

Carb cleaner. I am going to see if I can get to the bottom of the idle problem today. I think my 02 wiring might be bad or something which might be causing these random cels. I am going to play with some things today
