Tanabe SMR cracked.. NEED HELP!
97 Hatch-Back,
I found a crack in my tanabe exhaust today . It cracked in the "S" Shaped portion of the exhaust. (In front of the muffler, but back from the header) I am wondering if I can buy just the cracked section. I have been searching here and the web but not having much luck.
Any one know were to look? Also about how much $$?
Nick

I hear about this happening to Tenabe exhausts all the time... hatchlessREX's did it like 3-4 times before he finally said screw it.

It's stainless, It is made of a thin wall tubing so can it be re-welded? If so will it just crack again at the welds? Also about how much is it to have a new pipe made? Will it flow as well?
Thanks

The weld shouldn't crack if you just get it re-welded where it cracked. The weld should be stronger than the metal being welded. So if it cracks in front or behind the weld then it might just be shitty metal and bad luck, but if the weld itself cracks then the welder needs more practice.
If you just have them weld in a new pipe have them use one size bigger piping if a bend has to be replace, if not just use same size pipe.
