Default tach help! please help if you have any knowledge on tachometers for 96-00 ek.(dx,cx)

alright, i bought a tach from autozone, because my car is a CX and doesnt come with a tach. my brother mounted it and did everything for me. we started it up the light worked and everything. the tach was way off at first and he messed with it a little til it worked, but it was idling at 2100 rpm( i think it is wrong) my car has no problems at all, so its not my car. i went to start it up the next day and everything worked except for the tach rpm reading. it was idling below the 0 and wen i revved it, it went backwards. so my brother disconnected the green wire and now he's being a giant deusche so im doing it myself. please share all info you have or any past expieriences.

were wut wire do i tap into and how exactly do i do it.

thank you, please explain in detail not good with electrical at all.

There may be/should be a small switch on the back of the tachometer that allows you to select how many cylinders the engine has.

Make sure that it is set to "4".

and lastly... why didnt you just buy a ex/hx/lx cluster? try and return that and ill sell you an ex cluster

Wouldn't be very smart considering he got it for free. I highly doubt you'll sell him an EX cluster for cheaper than that...

i know, its not really rice, at least its not a huge 5 inch tach w/ a huge *** shiftlight. the reason i got mine is because its subtle and small.

Just in case you might have the same problem I incountered the tach might have a small switch on the back to select what cycle motor 4,6, 8. If its wrong you get wrong reading. I had it right but bumped it somehow and eventually figured it out.

Nice green wire I used the same shizz from Kragen ha ha.

Also you don't have to connect the RPM wire to the Dizzy Their is a blue wire on the harness at the right of the hole on ur firewall. Regardless if your car comes with a tach or not you should still have a RPM signal blue wire on the harness. If I have time I'll take a pic and post it.

PEACE
