T3/T4 on a D16Y8(SOHC VTEC-obdii)
Im considering a custom turbo for my d16 and i wanted to know if anyone in this forum has a t3/t4 setup on a d16. I am mostly interested in quartermile times, the cost, and also the reliability....the t3/t4 doesn't necessary have to be a custom set up...it could be the drag gen kit if any of u guyz have it...my car is a 2000 civic EX coupe...and im not interested in a swap...so please don't criticize me on my decision....thanks....

the SOHC engine can only do so much. expect 13's with a built engine. for what you spend on the turbo kit you can drop an engine in there but if you wanna turbo the sohc more power to you some people have turbod the d16y8 and they will hvae specific numbers for ya. good luck whatever direction you go

Sorry, I'm like you, still yet install a turbo on my car. Here is a few facts for you that you could probably do a search on this board for, but I feel like being nice today. With your stock D16 expect to run about 6-9psi of boost safely. Anything higher will require you to build up your fuel delivery and be sure to dyno tune the car. Otherwise, you can expect mid 14's in the 1/4 with those mild boost figures given above.

I'm building another turbo kit for my sohc... and http://www.turbochargers.com they have a new t3/4 Garrett turbo for $450. I'm going to go with them and see where it goes from there.

T3/T4 IMO is the ONLY way to turbo an sohc, the greddy kit simply does not make power...the T too small that they use is just not effective past 7psi.
after that the turbo itself will start to Generate too much heat, hurting performance, and likening detonation all at the same time.

anyone have time slips? these numbers all seem to come out of nowhere. i have the greddy kit on my 97 d16y8 and at ruffly 8psi i run high 14's no better than 14.7 on bald tires. i ouldn't say the greddy td04 turbo is too small to generate power either, but it won't get you 13's in a 6th gen. coupe. i am now looking into buying an 89 rex si and dumping a b20 and goin all motor or possibly doing a b18c1 w/ a to4/t3 turbo kit . but do what you want

Well, I just paid for my sleeving job at Golden Eagle so if you're around next Summer I'll post up dyno slips for everyone to see.
