I just installed my 13mm sway bar into my hatch and it is rubbing against my exhaust. This exhaust is 2 1/2 inch piping... It makes a vibrating noise when it idles and is pretty loud. What can I do to stop the noise? It seems like the piping needs to have a higher arc.

Either get shorter rubber hangars, or have an exhaust shop cut and weld the metal hangars so it sits higher.

I used aftermarket LCAs with multiple mounting points for the endlinks. It cleared my ITR sway and 3in exhaust.

I might take it to the shop...how much do you think it'll cost? I don't really want to modify the exhaust because it may lose its value if I were to resell it.

anything you wrap it with will just wear off from rubbing, your going to have to have in either hang higher or extend that section out away from the sway bar.

A hangar mod isn't going to damage the value of the exhaust, as long as the shop does it right. It's a stupid simple job - a couple of tack welds is all it takes. That's welding 101. Seriously, it's the absolute FIRST thing anyone using a welder learns. Tack, bead, seam, pipe.

Cost will vary. It all depends on how much the exhaust shop feels like charging you. The shops around here charge $30-$40 for that kind of job - it's stupidly simple and quick.

Any idiot at a muffler shop should be able to weld a new hanger on. You should be in and out in no time.

^ I'm curious about that as well. I've never seen clearance issues with a 13mm bar.

So yeah, your exhaust is hanging too low in that pic. Either find shorter rubber hangars, or have the hangars cut and welded to hang higher. Make sure the person who does the welding watches shifter and shift linkages clearances, as well.

Nope, 2.5 inch on a stock single cam was a bad decision I made lol. I bought it because it was on sale at a local shop. Later when I do a gsr swap, I'll use the same exhaust and cut the muffler off and replace it with a ws2 or sp2.

Yeah =( on the bright side, at least the sway bar setup was installed correctly! After thinking about it, I noticed the axle back doesn't have a high arc over the control arms.. I wonder if I can just ask the muffler guy to bend the arc it so it can go higher. Because if they make the hangers shorter, would the muffler sit even higher and melt my rear bumper? Here's how close it is to the bumper at the moment.

Oh ****, yeah, your exhaust isn't going to go up much higher than it is. You have an arc, just not a very defined one. They could theoretically fix that, but if they don't have a mandrel bending machine, I'd find someone who does and have them fix it.

Is there a difference in mandrel and press bend?

Yes, there's a HUGE difference. Mandrel bending maintains the interior and exterior smoothness of the pipe. Press (or crush) bending folds the metal over on itself on the inside radius of the turn, creating horrible flow.

O well since this was a cheap exhaust, I decided to do the press bend and they charged me $40 for it. Here's what it looks like now. Does that look like enough clearance if I were to put on a bigger sway bar?
