Default swapping 93'z6 to 00'y8 -help-

Thanks in advanced for reading and possibly helping me out in the comments. Today i tried swapping d16z6 out of my 93 eg sedan for a d16y8 from a 00' ej coupe. Got the engine out in s couple of hours and when i got the new motor in, i realized some of the connectors on the harness didn't match up with the parts on the current motor. I thought maybe that it was because it was from a next gen civic but ive seen y8's in cars like mine. So far the few things but connecting are the vtec solenoid, the alternator, and some other sensor on the intake manifold. I wanted to know if I'd have to swap out ecu's. Currently i have a p28, the ecu grin the new engine was a p2p. Am i going to need to do swap them out our get some type of conversion fit the harness. Again thanks in advanced for the help.

put the harness from your z6 on the y8. youll need to put your z6 injectors back on, and either find a d15b7 distributor for it, or swap the z6 guts into the y8 housing. the p28 ecu will run that motor just fine. edit: youll need to put the entire z6 intake manifold on the y8. 99-00 had cold start assist holes drilled in the manifold

There's a few more wiring things. You don't have to swap manifolds if you don't want just keep the vacuum line on for the vacuum assist.

I've read here and heard from others the P28 is a bad choice for the Y8 engine. Not sure what the deal is, maybe they just have the wrong fuel, ignition & timing maps. I had the same setup & it ran very poorly. I can't say for sure it was the ECU, but now I have a Y5 with Y8 manifolds & it runs much better. Good luck.
