Swap question? from a d16y8 to d15b7
Hi, I'm new to here and cant find the answers im lookin for in older posts. I have a 98 civic dx, with the d16y8 motor. I bought the car from a friend of mine in money trouble after he blew the motor. So I have the delima of finding a cheep motor. A friend of the family has a 93 del sol with low mileage and the d15b7 motor. I am basicly gettin the whole car for free. My question is about the wireing and all electrical hookups. Will the d15b7 electrical hook up to my car with no modifications or headaches? Also are the transmissions the same? both cars are manual. Would I need to use the d15b7 transmission or can I use my b16y8 tranny? thanks guys, kdub

Re: Swap question? from a d16y8 to d15b7
I wouldn't put that d15b7.
if your civic originally had a d16y8 I would rather put the same motor back in because you will have to make some modifications and have some headaches.
Just remember if you put that d15b7 you will have to make some modifications because they are different generations d15b7 is 5th gen and d16y8 is 6th gen. But again its up to you.
