Suspension wack?
Well I have my '93 Honda Civic EX. I bought the car about 2 years ago now. I bought it from the previous owner that basically put a bit of money/work in it, got a rebuilt title for it, and then he resold it to me. I guess he put the coilovers it has now on and so when I got the car they were essentially brand new. They were always stiff, but since its pretty low I just assumed it was typical.
Now I have noticed recently the suspension doesn't have that same stiffness to it, it feels like when you are flying down the freeway and hit like a dip it "sags" like its a damn heavy *** Cadillac on old springs or something where it sorts does the whole bobbing up and down thing. It's not terrible, but I don't remember it ever being quite so bad.
Well I took some pics of the coilovers, I have no idea the brand, I'm assumings it is something cheap, I didn't see any text or writing anywhere except for the dirty 450P sticker.

Think there as any cheap fix (ie replacing the springs?), I don't think I would have a problem taking them off... But can I just replace the springs and not the whole coilover assembly? Would this even fix it? I guess it could just be me going crazy again, it probably is driving the same as it did from day one . But could I do it on a budget (ie like $100 or less)? It's probably is due for an alignment anyway so if I do replace anything I'd probably need one anyway...
Thanks

anyone who sells cars to kids know they can detail a honda, throw some generic ebay coilover on it, and turn a huge profit.
but yeah, your shocks are most likely blown.

Yeah, if they're anything like mine...you'll need all four replaced. Doubt they knew what was happening cuz that second perch needs to be below the first one!

Not looking to spend this much money, but would something like this be better, just replace the whole coilover/shock assembly?

No. That's not much different than what you have now, except aftermarket shocks. Just get yourself a decent set of shocks and you should be fine. I have KYB AGX on mine and haven't had any problems for 3+ years. They are adjustable and affordable. You just need new dampers. The coilovers you have should be fine. BTW, do you know what kind of coilovers those are? Name brand? Ebay specials?

Like I said, no idea on the coilovers .
The cheapest I have seen the KYB AGX is ~300 for my car... I found the tein "sport shocks" for ~250ish... doesn't seem too bad, think its worth making a wtb thread or searching the FS forums for anything cheaper? Any other brand recommendations?
Thanks for all the help!

Re: (tazeat)
The only other adjustable shock you will find in that price range (I believe) is the Tokica Illumina. You could always get an OEM replacement like the KYB GR2's, but I don't know how long they will last running coilovers on them. I would recommend the AGX's. They have held up great on my car.

Re: (96hb)
the jam nut is in pic #2 it is the red locking collar that is not tightened against the other red collar. if they are not together tight, the top one that is holding the spring can adjust itself.

Hmm...
KYB AGX's ~300
Koni Yellow's ~450
Tokico Illumina ~400
I have read a few reviews on the KYBs wearing out after about a year, but considering I still have OEM and they have lasted like the life of the car I'm hesitant... But still I'm kinda on a budget until my tuition gets paid...
Again thanks for all your help
