Default To Supercharge or Run PoorMan's ITR Setup ?

Well guys I finally saved up some money for a while now about $3000, and now I want to step it up a big *** notch . My current setup is B16A SiR2 w bolt-ons and made 158hp and 110tq, but now I'm looking for more power. I've broken to these two major mods and can't decide which one. I want to stay some what relaible also. But I think the PoorMan's ITR will be cheaper to do, so if anyone can give me some feedback on their PoorMan's ITR setup . I just want to know how does it run, how much power+setup, and how much u spend on the conversion. I know It's asking alot, and yes I did search first before posting lol. Thanks for u guys+honda-tech's help.

what do you consider a poormans itr?? lsvtec? or gsr block with ITR head?? or b16a block with ITR head??

id just supercharge the bitch, look into the "procharger" kits, there was a guy on here with a gsr that had one and that thing was mean.

I would like to but a b18c1 bottom end with my P30 pistons with my b16 head, and run a 1.8l close to 12:1 compression all-motor

I'm with this guy, even if you don't crank the boost, a turbo will be more effective than both of these...

I'd get a basic bolt-on turbo kit

poor man's ITR = GSR block with B16/Type R head

i'd go with Bauley and just boost your b16. want reliability on that? just have it tuned well.

I thought a poor mans ITR was a B18C5 bottom end with a B16 head?

from what i read, the B16 head is the same as the ITR head. IMO, putting on a b16 head on an ITR block, is an ITR motor. just made more sense to me if a GSR block and b16 head is called a poor man's type r

i would supercharge it just becasue of the "unreliability" of the poor mans ITR, and slap a turbo on top of that

Why would you run a supercharger with a turbo at the same time? The only motor I heard of that had that was a rb26 and oldschool diesels.

no i ment, if hes buildin a poor mans itr, which can be "unreliable". Then i would SC it instead of turboing it, becasue a turbo can be unreliable sometimes

hey.. pssst...

check this...1.8L with people thinking your still 1.6...

https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=815614

then use the saved money to build up your head, and get a better intake manifold and throttle body with a good header, and you will be seeing some really good numbers...

search... i've never heard of the poorman's r being unreliable. everything always will come back down to tuning... and for $3000 i think a lot of peopl here will agree that turbo is the way to go. regarding the procharger kit.... if i'm not mistaken they operate very much like a vortech... and you can read up on the opinions about vortech. my vote is for the poorman's r, but if you really want to supercharge, go with JRSC

This is the way to go with 4 cyl. $3000 could get you a decent turbo kit and you should be putting down some good numbers then

Superchargers are for V8's.

with $3000, you can get a lot more than just a decent turbo.

if your into the allmotor thing, then the poormans itr would be great and fast.

but if you care about REALLY going fast,
then the turbo is what you want,
as stated,

theres not much reason for a supercharger,

and for 3k you can get a beastly turbo kit.

Is that it.

Wow he would pick about 20 hp and 20 ft lbs of torque. That is going to get him far.

Get a B18B block do the "poor man's ITR" and make your own turbo kit. You should have money left over if you use something like Uberdata.
