Took out my motor to the sunroof last night, is it possible to remove anything more from this sunroof "package"? I want to keep the panel stock, but it would be perfect if it was possible to remove all of the parts that are used to open and close it etc.

Why do you want to take it all out? Weight reduction?

Yeah, need to get rid om the weight.

But as I said, I would like to keep it, so it doesnt shows from the outside that the car is lighter than stock.

You're not going to save much weight, all the weight is from the glass and the enclosing surround.

DUDE if you're going to go through with this you and me need to get together so I can take some of those parts you're removing off your hands. Specifically, I need this stupid little spring that goes on either side of the assy. I don't remember how mine came off, but I know I ended up losing it and now my sunroof needs a shove upwards to open. Let me know kid, I can't get that part from a dealer!

But what can i remove? All I see when i look at the roof now is black metal. I want to remove some of it, what parts can i remove?

The whole system is held in a tray that is held to the roof by several 10mm bolts.
Just undo the bolts and drop the entire thing.
Have fun filling the roof.

Hmmm well the thing is, I DONT want to remove my stock sunroof! I want to remove parts from it that isnt necessery.

hey man just take it all out and get a carbon fiber plug and get it color matched,thats the only way you be able to drop a significally amount of weight compared to what your trying now.good luck

I say screw it.. the heaviest part of the sunroof is the glass... your waisting your time removing just peices
