Sunroof on EG is struggling, got any suggestions?
The sunroof on my eg is decnitally struggling. Sometimes it wont close all the way or open. I gata give it a little boost. Plus its shakes when its moving up and down the tracks. Is there some kinda special grease i need for this bad boy? Bad motor? Any clues?

Sounds like a dying motor. Mine closes fine, but when I open it, it's a little unpredictable. Gotta push up on the sunroof to help it along. Applying more grease didn't help. Said the hell with it and I ordered a new motor.

Re: (t0ekn3e)
go to Honda and purchase a can of Honda Lock Lube.
it is a black can that has grey letters on it, it works great.
if lubing it does not work then you will need to replace the motor and cables aka regulator assembly

i have the same problem. in the beginning lube works, but after time goes by the motor died on me and started making clicking noises. no it doesnt even move the damn thing. i had to hand crank it to close. anywho i picked up a motor for free off of a wrecked EG si :] hopefully my lines are still good and i wont have to replace those.

Mine is werid. Whenever I'm driving with it open (freeway speeds) it will struggle closing. However, when I'm doing slow speeds it will close/open fine.

Sunroof Killer AKA Carbonfiber plug is an option. Unless you enjoy the functionality of a sunroof.
It lowers the center of gravity . Power sun-roof setups weigh around 30lbs I'd imagine.

Oh God, here we go with the 'weight' issue again. I can see this being a viable setup for someone with a race/drag car setup. However, 90% of the people on Honda-Tech don't have this setup so it's completely pointless (other than the cosmetic bling of a CF sunroof plug) for someone to do this.

Re: (wdstkd16)
I got an extra moonroof assembly.....I kind like it better than the one on my car. The roof retracts inside the car versus outside. Take headliner down, remove 6 nuts I think and 4 drain hoses unplug the harness and it is out. Pain in the *** to do alone but it can be done. Try and get a friend to help.

Hmm, I've always liked how my Civic's sunroof has went over my roof.

Oh, I never knew that they did that.
Back on topic. I always use a tad bit of greace to lube up the tracks, that makes it go a lot better.

Oh. I assumed all sunroofs on EGs were the same as on coupes/hatchbacks. Looks like I was wrong. Thanks for clearing that up for me.
