Such a quandary...
I am selling my 00' civic si, and I have since bought 97 hb. I originally planned on paying it off, and buying a 3rd gen rx-7. I then decided to hybrid my car, and go for some ff performance. Now I realize the astronomical cost of doing so ($2600 just to begin playing, and I love turbo so there goes another 3k), and now I am leaning towards the 7 again. I have a complete sound system with boston pro series, extant, and dynamat sitting in my basement. I am seriously considering making my car (hb) into a sluggish beast that sounds pretty . If I put power windows, and gsr seats in it would be a relatively comfortable car.
I have another car to autocross in, so going fast right now is only important every 3rd weekend. I absolutely love rx-7's, and that will be plenty fast if I should decide to buy one.
So I guess (as I am very indecisive) I want to hear from you hybrid guys that sunk $6k-$8k into your hatch. If you could get all the money you gradually spent back would you rather have an economical, reliable car to drive everyday, and a beast (supra, rx-7) to drive on the weekends and pretty days, or are you satisfied with your hybrids?

I am completely satisfied with my hybrid. It never has problems, great on gas. and is quick. 13.6 in the 1/4. Planning on sinking some more money into it, can't ever be fast enough, right guys. Its really up to you though, but if I were in your shoes I would go with the hybrid.

Did you tell your insurance company you did anything to your car? And if so, did your rates go up? How much...?

its not going to be any fun unless your passionate about it. yes your excitement can grow over time, but it sound like your always going to have the what if's.
i love the last body rx7 also, it still looks fresh every time i see one. but i am not disapionted at all with my hatch. fun per dollar its hard to beat.
