Have them sandblasted and then use a flat-black primer and a paint sealer.

Or you can grind the rust off by hand with a dremel or something and then paint them.

HUM..... so they make paints to endure all the abuse of weather and rocks and sand and crap that can be kicked up fromt he road. will all this make the wheel flat black at least? i dont want to roll around with red wheels.

thanks a lot guys, i'll probably check ou tadvance and see what they have.

Hell my HX rims get sprayed about once a year with spraypaint and clearcoat. No big deal. Doesnt fade, doesnt look crappy. Just go for it with some flat black paint.

are there any clear coat type things that wont make it glossy? i just want a dull black.... or just spray multiple layers of paint, wasting a can per wheel.... get that nice and thick so you could cut paint off with a knife

To begin with, I'd strip the wheel down with some aircraft stripper...nevermind give me a second, Ill post a link to a wheel painting FAQ. I would not suggest putting the paint on that thick, I have used a can to do 6 wheels and they do chip eventually, but just do the spraypaint. I have'nt found any clear that wasnt glossy though.
