Stupid Control ARM!!
So I was installing my new konis yesterday and I got to the last one (rear left, if looking from behind the car) and I go to take it off, now note im using an impact gun set on 80psi so it is quite powerful, and the damn bolt will not budge! By the 6yth or 7th time im getting really pissed off. I have marinated this bolt in wd40 and tried all things.. Well today I go back out there to try it again and It still doesnt budge... So as we speak im soaking it in gasoline b/c I figure its rusted... Also me and my dad cut off the bolt on the oposite side that holds it inplace... So its just a bolt going throw the control arm... It must be rusted in the middle of the control arm, I cant think of any thing else....

Re: (ng)
damn pesky control arms, ****** who needs em?
lol j/p
when we did the suspension on my old del Sol, we had to cut one of the arms of the strut off then rig up some kinda new bolt w/ bushing. replace it all, shock, lca, upgrade it during the process and then get a sway bar =o)

Re: Stupid Control ARM!! (myh4tch)
Everyone seems to have problems with their 5th gen civics and del sol's LCAs. I would honestly just get some GSR LCAs and add the sway bar as a bonus...like previously stated. That's what I did.

Like I said, Dr. Pepper. It's more acidic than Coke or Pepsi, and the AAA guys use it to clean corrosion off of batteries and other parts of the car. Read my damn post!!! ^^^^^^^^^

Re: sca/lca its easy trust me
1. cut out old shock 2. burn out old bushing propane torch should work fine 3. take hack saw and cut the metal sleeve still in the arm in 3 or 2 places equidistance apart either to the base of the arm or close to 4. take an airhammer or chisel and peel up an edge (once an edge is up simply take a punch and drive the old sleeve out) trust me this is easy. 5. soak with p.b blaster and make sure the hole is smooth to prevent any binding when installing the new bushing. Use a big c clamp and a socket to push in the bushing, make sure its square from the get go. or get a ball joint press from a worth tool supplier. And don't forget to get the bushing and new bolt from the Honda Dealership

I know exactly what you're dealing with, when I was putting my coil overs on mine the same bolt would not come off. It was rusted into the bushing. I tried everthing and so i just ended up drilling a big hole through the old one and putting a new bolt through the hole. From what I hear hondas are notorious for rusted bolts.

Re: Stupid Control ARM!! (EG TYPE-R)
yup... you definitely have to replace the bushing and get a new bolt, and since you cut off the nut on the other side, you will need something to secure it on the other side. Not a big deal, just a pain in the ***

yup,use some anti-seize on the bolt when you put it all back together and you'll never have this problem again.
