I have a 94 coupe need to change the timing belt and water pump but I can't get the pulley bolt off. I've tried a rattle gun, and I have blocked the fly wheel with a screw driver. But the damn thing still wont come off. please help!!

Re: Stupid bolt (lsvinny)
tried and broke the socket, then Home depot said that after two months they can't replace Husky tools because it's the manufactures problem and not theirs.

Re: Stupid bolt (Scilacci4)
isn't their warranty like craftsman? should be able to take it back w/o a reciept. If they're going to *** you over like that, buy another socket from them then return the broken one using that reciept.

Home Depot says that the lifetime warranty is all Husky and they can't replace after you have had the tool for over two months. I need to mail the tool to Husky and they'd send me the replacement. SCREW THAT I'm only buying Craftsman from now on.

Re: Stupid bolt (Scilacci4)
Last weekend I was working on my brothers 92 LX civic . Trying to get that bolt off the pulley with a 1/2" drive Craftsman ratchet and socket using a handle from a hydraulic floor jack as a cheater bar.. The socket shattered and I hit my self in the mouth with the bar with alot of force.. I was pulling as hard as i could when the socket shattered . Luckily i just ended up with a busted up swollen lip and a bruised gum. So i dont really have to much faith in Craftsman tools anymore. Seems like all I do is brake them. They aren't made like they use to be but then again what is.

Re: Stupid bolt (SLowCrx)
the ony reason a Craftsman tool will break is after long hard use, or it's abused. Using a "cheater" bar on the end of a standard socket, technically shouldn't be covered under the warranty, but Sears will still exchange it. For situations like those, where you use an impact gun or a long breaker bar, you need to use impact sockets

Re: Stupid bolt (gumbii)
had the same problem, you'll never get it off w/ a breaker bar, you need an impact gun w/ a impact socket, if that doesn't work, you need a bigger air compressor, the only thing that'll work is the impact gun, its torqued over 300 ft-lb's

well you need to keep the pulley from moving which it will. there is a special tool that you can use, but you dont need to. Get your breaker bar steady it so it wont move. Hit it with the impact, loosen tighten loosen tighten. You can try to heat it up too.
