STRUT BAR & INTAKE FITMENT
Okay, I have a 99' Hatchback with a stock motor, y7. As for now, i'm looking to get a strut bar but i'm aware that there are some fitment issues due to the Stock air box.
My question is... can a aftermarket intake solve the problem?? If yes, which intake??
Alright, i need people with experience answering this question. Thank in advance

Re: STRUT BAR & INTAKE FITMENT (Mischiefek)
Your Y7 has that weird "carb" throttle body, so even if you do get an intake, some front strut bars may still not clear it. I have a Y8, but I have read from other Y7 owners that the Neuspeed strut bar works well since its design kind of goes forward. Hope that makes sense. I have the Neuspeed strut bar but didn't have to worry about any of this. However, check out the pics on my webpage for an idea of what it looks like.

*stands up* "I got this one" I have a Y7 motor in my CX also. Get a Y8 Intake Manifold, then you can add ANY strut bar you want. You can have an GSR/R/Mugen/Whatever.. + have better throttle resonse. There are a few threads floating around on this topic. It made driving the car more fun. Ohh and the strut tower bar helped to.. Just my .02

from the 92-95' si?
so 96-00 intake manifold would work.. what other components do i need to make it all happen? thanks-

no.. I have the stock y7... i wanna do whats easiest, so that my strut bar will fit. i'm looking into a swap(b16) in the future. but for now, I just need to figure out which intakee/intake manifold would fit so that my strut bar would clear. Just want a definite answer before i start getting ****.

yeah you will need to plug some holes on the manifold depending on which year you get, throttle cable bracket and throttle cable plate/spring, gaskets, etc...
i suggest if interested in the im swap do a search because there's lots on it

force fit, lol..
i had some free intake arm that someone gave me, paired up with a mugen front strut bar. they touched, but i just bolted down the mugen bar which forced the intake to go in a different position. notice the two zipties on the strut bar. they were holding a piece of foam which absorbed rattles...
this was a long time ago. a y8 manifold is a very good solution, as it makes plenty of room for the strut bar. shortly after that picture, i changed to a y8 manifold. it gave the car a little more kick, and the car felt a lot better. it was a good modification..

interesting... stock strut bar wouldn't fit with my stock air box. Is the box modified?
have any pics to prove it?
