Re: stolen engine? problem (Bulli Kid)
they probably crshed it or impounded it for the fact he was racing,, ontario which was the birthplace of the scene now has either or,
if your car has either stolen parts or was involved directley in a street drag race it WILL be crushed

if you are racing with stolen engines then you are retarded.
1)don't steal other ppls motor
2)don't be street racing, take it to the race tracks

Man.... a friend bought a EG with a full obd1 gsr (obd1 gsr's between 94-95 had no vin plate) and the dude swore everything was legit. We got another friend with a dealer's license to run the numbers that are stamped under the engine code and it came up stolen. There is no way for you to tell if the motor is stolen unless u go down to CHP and have them run it which is bad cuz most swaps are already illegal anyways and if it comes up stolen you go to jail... If the popo's are goin to be so strict on stolen motors they should have an easier way for you to check the status of the motor.

Ha, yeah, this is what I figured. Good chuckle watching everybody get bent out of shape like that .
In short, can they say it's stolen? No.
The car that it's in has to be reported stolen. So if somebody reports a white GSR license plate XXXXXXX - they look up that license plate, and the VIN is recorded in their database. So if they pop your hood at look at your engine, say it's a GSR, they can type the VIN into their computer and it'll either come up with no warrants, or stolen. Now if it comes up as stolen you have a bit of a problem, but if it doesn't then you really don't have a problem - unless of course it's JDM which don't have VIN's which always makes me crack up when the cops bust down on some idiot b/c there's no vin on his engine b/c he's "JDM y0."
Basically, in case that engine really is stolen, no, they can't, they'd check the VIN first, and the VIN would always be connected to the VIN of the chassis (whether by originality, swap marriage (when they marry VINs of engine to chassis after you swap), or whatever) which would be reported stolen say...99% of the time?
As for your street racing...well that's a different ball game, story for a different day.
EDIT:
PS: It always helps if you have the receipt for th engine, too, of course.

Re: (sii.)
As long as the motor is legit (always be sure to get proof when you buy a motor), the motor is the same year or newer than the car its going into, and your inspected/smogged/bar'd depending on your area you should be legit. I understand there are a few more variables to this but this is just a basic guideline.
