Stock DX brakes? Good enough for my street car?
Well my 250whp hatch needs its suspension and brakes to catch up. I'm currently on the stock suspension and 175 wide 13 inch tires.
So far I've ordered a set of Azenis to go on some 14 inch rims and some Axxis Ultimate front pads that will go with some ATE super blue fluid. I'm in the process of buying a stock ITR suspension as well.
With the improved tire grip and suspension combined with the far superior brake pads be a sufficient setup for a pretty powerful street car? I'm not looking for extreme endurance (I have my ITR for a track/auto-x car) but I do what the car to be able to stop with authority when needed. Thanks in advance.

if all you're doing is driving it on the street, and not heating up the brakes too much, i think the stock dx brakes would be fine.
a bigger brake upgrade is just going to dissipate heat faster, and maybe put more braking force between the pad and rotor, but imho the stock dx brakes with good pads are more than enough to lock your tires up when cold, so they provide enough force, so that shouldn't really be an issue. the issue for you it seems would be fade, and in my experience you can reduce a LOT of fade with good pads.. like hawk hp plus. the axxis ultimates are pretty good too, but they don't quite have that authoritative bite that the hp plus does. the hawks dust and squeal a bit though.

If you run some good rotors and pads you should be fine. Just have properly bled and maintanenced brakes and you should be ok. I am currently running CX brakes in my H22 hatch, and have to keep my dx brakes on my ls-t 4-door cause my slicks won't fit anything bigger . So far everything has been fine, but in those sticky situations I wish I had some GSR fronts to equal everything out

For my purposes, my axxis ultimates and valvoline synpower are enough to stop my car with the DX brakes. However, with the amount of HP you have and if you're gonna be doing autox/RR i'd upgrade the master cylinder as well and see how it is then, if not i'd recommend upgrading to integra 4 wheel discs or something of that nature.

I won't be auto-x/road racing the car. I have my ITR for that.

Pedal will be much stiffer and feel a lot better.

hello mr activeaero. In your case I suggest a GS-R disc conversion in the front and steelbraided lines all around. You have a heavier motor set up than the stock sohc that was once in there.
Its just my opinion however. I know that in my old hybrid hatch, I know my 4 wheel disc brakes have saved my *** more times than once.
