Stock Airbox vs. CAI question
I just bought a '92 Civic VX for a daily driver that I want to use to basically get good gas mileage and don't care too much for extra power. The previous owner put a Cold air intake on with a cheap filter. Would I get better gas mileage putting back on the stock airbox and using a drop in K&N or by putting a new K&N Cone filter on the intake. Also, do all civic's (92-95) use the same stock intake/airbox, or would I need one specifically from a VX. Thanks,
Sean

Re: Stock Airbox vs. CAI question (SCCAsean)
I would say if you can get any extra money out of the CAI sell it and get a stock airbox with a K&N drop in just because I worry about hydrolock with a CAI. A short ram or CAI is giong to be negligble gas mileage wise.

I can't say one way or the other on the mpg, I have no experience. But, the stock airbox is the same as any other civic with the exception of the tube that goes from the box to the intake manifold - it is much smaller in diameter than any of the other intake tubes (possible exception is the CX, which could be the same but again no experience).
What kind of mpg are you currently getting? I got as good as 44 all stock and a failing O2 sensor.

Re: Stock Airbox vs. CAI question (civicminded92)
Well, I just bought the car and got 57 mpg on the highway. I was taking it easy and drafting whenever possible, but the car did need a tune up and alignment, and the tires were low in pressure. The next day I put in new plugs, cap and rotor, and fuel filter, drove it around the city (not too hard) and only got about 33 mpg. I was hoping to get about 40 when I bought the car, or else I probably would have gotten an SI.
