Default Stereo Issues.

hey everyone. i have a 1996 honda civic that im attempting to hook up a pioneer head unit to, i connected all the wires and it seems that on the plug that connects into the factory harness has one additional wire (orange and white stripped) and its called "positive dimmer" for some reason, my head unit has NO POWER, no lights, no NOTHING...

if anyone could help me out id appriciate it!

some headunits have that wire, others dont. including yours.

you should have 3 wires that control your power

Yellow
Red
Black

Black is ground obviously.
Yellow is the constant B+
and Red is a switched B+ when the key is in accessory or run position.

what model civic do you have? you should check your wiring, the fuse on the back of the deck, and then the fuse in your fuse panel.

is the deck known to be good? unplug the harness from the back of the deck, and check for power.

Are you using a proper wiring harness to do the install or are you cutting and splicing? There should be no issues if you're using a proper harness. You should also NOT be splicing ANY wires into the dimmer switch/circuit.
