Default Steering wheel

Im pretty sure its my passenger side axel thats the problem ,and I need it replaced already. The passenger side axel has been knocking for a few months now, I have a 94 honda civic ex. Yesterday i was going home, and as I turned into my street I turned right my steering wheel got really hard to turn. It was strange to me, but I immediately linked it to my axel being bad. Just want to make sure that its the axel. I have a feeling it could be something else. And I dont have power steering in my car also, please let me know what you think. Thanks
