Default Starter Question

I tried searching but could not find a definite answer to this. My friend has an ls/vtec and the starter went out on his motor. I was just curious if I can use any B-series starter or do I have to use a year/model specific starter. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

take the part number off the starter you have and get the same one.......

I think I may have found the answer thanks anyways, apparently the starter from rs, ls, gs, gsr are the same except the type r. Thanks anyways.
