Default Starter Problems!?

ok..i just replaced my starter with a new one from Pep Boys...installation was pretty straight forward...but when i go try to start the car it wouldn't even start!...i would hear some sparks but that's all...could the starter be bad?..is there a way to check if the starter is defective? TIA.

usually when people replace starters or do engine swaps they almost always forget the little tiny spade plug that goes on the starter.... check that i have seen that happen a lot. alsi check for sorrosion around the starter and clean the connections really well.
