Stalls on highway, and occasionally sputters d16y5
Hi everyone, having some serious issues I need to fix asap. 2000 civic hx d16y5 vtec-e motor. So here's the deal, a month ago it started, happened about 5 times, only on the highway, the check engine light will turn on then off in a split second and the motor will lose power. Just a quick sputter, then nothing else. I would just keep driving and it acted like everything was fine. Then a couple days ago it happened again(on highway, same conditions ) and I just kept driving, but a minute later the cel came on and STAYED ON, and the motor stalled so I had to coast to a stop. Wouldn't turn back on. Waited 5 minutes and bam it turned on like nothing happened. Drive for 5 minutes and it died again. Except this time it wouldn't turn back on. Towed it to a shop, they replaced the distributor and its still happening. But only on the highway On partial throttle and coasting with the clutch in it will sputter then eventually stall completely. I can't keep paying the shop to throw parts at it so please help out guys.

Thanks for the reply,
I don't remember the exact code, it was ignition related, I'll call that shop in the morning to see exactly which code it was. I'd just bring it to autozone to have it scanned but given the situation its hard to scan if the light only flashes for a second when it sputters or when it stalls I'm left on the side of the highway and it turns back on just fine after a 10 minute break

The code will be stored. You can pull the codes yourself with a paperclip.
