stall 99 htchbk - relay, distr cap, or fuel ??????
Have a long going problem over a year with my Honda 1999 DX Htchbk.
My car stalls and is hard to start back up. anywhere and whenever it wants, mostly when the weather is warm. No problems getting to work in the morning.
When my car stalls:
1. the odometer goes to zero even if I am on the freeway going 55MPH.
2. I have to turn the key sometime 30 times before it will start again.
3. more I drive it during the day the more it will happen
When car run its no problem:
1. I have made it from S. OC to San Diego no stall
2. I turn off the key go in the store try to start the car 15 to 30 time before car start again.
Some time the car will go only a block and stall sometime it will go 7 mile and stall. It is getting worse. For over a year it only happen when I drove the car too much during the day or it was very hot weather. Now it does it when ever it wants. Battery and starter are fine.
What do you all think is my problem relay, distr cap, or fuel????
Thanks ahead,
Cerpher

Someone said it may be a ground will loose.
I see only one ground wire on the right side. Is this the only ground wire I should be looking at.

Did you have the recall done for the ignition switch?
I think it came out in 2001 or 2002. The problems you are describing are the ones that were happening.
If it hasn't been done have that done first. It's a recall so it's free, and it may solve your problem.

when u say odometer goes to 0, even if you're doing 55 on the highway, do u mean speedometer?
Also, when it stalls like that, and you're rolling, can you just put it in gear and pop start it again?
EDIT:
But yeah, check out that manufactuer's recall first

When I was rolling, I just turn the key but it depends how many times. It may start on 3 turns but if more I had to pull it to the side and try 30 times.
!!!!! Hey All !!!
Deal fix the L55 recall on Monday. Today I drove it a lot today and nothing happen. Everytime I turn the key it started the very first time.
!!!! Guess it's fixed !!!!

I was having the exact same problems that you had until a week ago. Luckily someone gave me a link to find this recall and I had it replaced for free. No more problems for me either. I've also got a '99 hatchback.
