SR20DET in an EK?
I just posted this in the Hybrid forum, but it seems like nobody really answers many questions in there. So I'm posting in here, you guys are quick with replying.
Anyone ever heard of anybody doing this? My brother is in Okinawa right now in the Air Force and he has a built SR20DET in his Nissan Pulsar GTI-R. When he comes back to the states in June, he won't be able to ship the entire car because of all the regulations (it's just a pain in the ***). The pulsar is AWD, so the engine should technically fit in my engine bay right? Has anyone tried this before?

Of course someone has... Ask Johnny Tran from the F&F. He can put an SR20de-T in his civics... but honestly...WHY?

Re: SR20DET in an EK? (KRiS1)
I'm thinkin it would be a huge pain in the ***, I was just wondering if anyone has heard of it being done. I mean, what would the axle setup be, would ya have to change the hubs, I'm sure the mounts would have to be custom made. Just a few things I was curious about... I'm sure I won't even attempt it... lol

You seem to like the idea right now.
Wait until you have to sort out fuel, a/c (if you want it), MOUNTS!, tranny, axles, hood clearance, weight...
And that's not even touching engine management or wiring...I have no idea how you'd work out the wiring harness for that thing. Unless you have alot of time, welding experience, and another car to drive around, forget it.

Dude, it bolts right in. WTF are you guys talking about.
I mean if it can fit in a Nissan, it should technically fit in a Honda. Honda and Nissan are both Japanese cars, so they use the same bolts.

Re: (EH3_Si)
Correct me if I am wrong, but doesn't the Pulsar AWD have a lattitudinally mounted engine, thus making it rather difficult to drop it into a RWD 240?

nope... setup just the same as an AWD eclipse, same direction. So I was thinking... IF I WERE TO EVEN THINK ABOUT SWAPPING IT... that I would just take out the transfer case to go to the rear end.

You nizzles really think the B18c5 "owns" the SR20DET? LOL
Funny stuff I tell ya. Two totally different engines for two totally different cars and you are comparing them. ******* stupid.
But if it really came down to it, the SR20DET will slaughter a B18c5 in stock form. Build and sleeve a B18c engine for turbo and there might be some competition there.. otherwise - no.
