Spun Front Main Bearing!
So I was on the west track at miller when my motor started to make a little noise.
now that I have the pan off I can see that it was the front main bearing.
I am still very much a noob when it comes to Honda so if anyone has advice I would appreciate it. The motor is a DA16Z6
Question: is it easier to pull the motor and tranny together or just the motor?
where is a good place to get bearings? (the dealer stocks nothing)
Should this be my excuse to put a B in it.

Re: Spun Front Main Bearing! (lint_rides_again)
we'll first.... you have a d16z6 not a da16z6 for future preference.
second, you have an inline four motor.... there's no such thing as a front rod bearing or whatever you called it.
now for help....in my opinion.... you can go about many ways on fixing this problem.
1. buy a used crank and connecting rod. figure out which rod is junk and make sure your block isn't screwed. problem solved. cheap and quite quick.
2. buy a new crank and build your bottom end with low or high compression pistons and forged rods and have a built bottom end for boost or n/a
3. or do a motor swap and trash the d.
p.s. you can get what you need on the honda-tech marketplace, ebay, or whatever aftermarket parts place you can access.

i actually had the same thing happen to me.. at first clicking at high rpms then a str8 knock a few days later the motor blew and it was a d16y8 almost the same motor as your d16z6... and so theres obviously no point of rebuilding the ol' single or even getting a new block so i just dropped a b series in it for dirt cheap.. problem solved

Roughly how much?

i went to the local engine place and got the motor for about 700 bucks... then all you need is a tranny, mounts and axles... or you can go to the engine place and get a jdm d15b which you can keep all your stock mounts, axles, and tranny thats the easiest, cheapest thing to do those little motors have some pep in em

Well, first ... I believe you meant reference, for future reference. I also think you meant "well".
