Default spray painting my car?

I am thinking about spray painting my car como with flat black and green rattle can paint. I realize that it is pretty getto to do that with this paint but it would be much cheaper and if it scratched or chipped you could touch it up very easy. please let me know what you think.

If your current paintjob is even REMOTELY decent, dont do it

if your car is milano pink or just plain nasty, then you may as well

Believe it or not, a rattle can paintjob can look VERY, VERY good... however, it takes a massive amount of work.

Link to a good site that details what you need to do to get good results

you know, all you have to do it wetsand the paint with 240 or 340 grit sandpaper and spray it with the real stuff (paint, not a rattlecan) and you'll have a nice car again. Painting's not hard, sanding's not hard and neither is really expensive. I got a gallon of Dark Cherry Red Metallic (OEM Chevy 1994, code DA4240) for $200 and I could probably paint three Civics with it.

As for your idea...well...it'll look like **** unless you know what you're doing.

I agree with you. Prep and elbow grease are everything.

Option magazine a while back had a good article about rattlecan painting. Final results look just great.

Another note is that there are a lot of shops that will fill rattlecans with the automotive paint of your choice (LOTS more expensive than Krylon or Duplicolor though).

Go buy the latest issue of Sport Compact Car, they spray painted their STi flat black. Haven't read it yet, but there may be helpful info there.

search on here, some guy with a EG painted his car the same red, and it looks OEM brand new. He spent 400$, but that included his paint, and he got a real painter, the nice expensive nozzle, airbrush machine, and compressor. All you need is patience, and just a lil talent. Patience though.

i like the idea; flat black gives it that neat, sort of hod-rod-ish look. hard to get right though

nah, i've seen many a ford galaxie/chevy bel air/impala, etc. with, say flat black, police dog dish wheels painted red with a chrome center cap, and all the superfluous chrome removed and it was a truly awesome, menacing sight. you know, the budget racer kind of thing that you've always gotta look out for. like i said, it is a lil hard to pull off correctly though.

krylon industrial flat balck. Sand it with 600 grit lightly then just wipe clean with a paper towel soked in starting fluid. Then just give it about 3 light coats. Make shure you go light and tape everything off. It looks mean as hell and dont cost hardly anything.

Yeah, the SCC STi was pretty shocking. Dumb, but ballsy. It looks badass, but at the same time, a ton of value was removed from the car.
