Default Spoon Sports Ventuli Plate. Just wanted some opinions.

I did a search on ebay for " Spoon Sports " and came to this item called a Spoon Sports Ventuli Plate. Below is an image. Is this just another gaydeem modification or has someone actully noticed the benefit of it. Heres what some of the content of the auction stated:

The innovative Spoon Sports ventuli plate increases mid-range horsepower and gives added torque. The ventuli plate replaces the stock intake manifold gasket. It's unique design gives the air flow a more streamlined approach towards it's entry into the combustion chamber. Good for about an extra 6-8 midrange HP. Available for the B16A/B16B and B18C5 engines. Gasket is not included.

Any input? Just curious on everyones opinion. I doubt its available for the gsr manifolds..

I think it would just take away horsepower seeing that it just causes drag, I mean that's why you get an intake system and a header and an exhaust system to free up the flow.

I would like to know as well. I know this migt not make for a great drag upgrade, but if it would make a b16 a little more driveable, I.E. more mid torque, it would be worth the $$, cause I know these are expensive.

Bump for an experianced ventuli user...

i have one of these but i haven't installed it yet. i already have some baselines.. when i install it, i will go in again for another dyno. from what i hear, it makes no noticeable difference on b18's but on the b16's the midrange increases. ventuli systems have been proven to work. nascar teams have used this technology for many years now. btw: we have them for sale at http://www.jdmspecperf.com tell leo that you get the special mugen76 price and he'll hook you up. should be about $250.

Yea, the technology has been around and.. honestly, it makes since to me because the air usually bulds up velocity when traveling in that manner.

I probably wouldnt put that on a Fi ( forced induced )car though.

read up on increasing velocity , narrowing the ports is a good way to achieve this...

no, the jdm honda integra is like a "sir-g" or something like that and no, the intake manifold is the same dual runner design as the usdm acura.

The USDM type r, the JDM type R,and the b16 share the same pr3 head casting, therefore the intake manifolds share the same platform, so the ventuli plate can be used on all b-series but the non-vtec heads and the gsr/sir-g heads.

nascar uses multplie ventuli's for velocity since they have restrictor plates.

Does anyone have one installed and actually have some results?

My roommate had one back in 96 or 97, in his old B16. Made a noticeable difference in the midrange, but took a dump on the top end. It was free, so they tried it out. Once it was removed, his car pulled much harder on the top end.

edit: Car was NOT dyno tuned, basic bolt on's and shaved head.

Watch out for intake and port ice when the motor is cold....no experence with venturi's in cars, but the plane's i fly all use them, and that is one of our problems...

Other than that, i would say that it would be a great install.

it is effective on mildly built motors

i think that after a certain level of power production it just becomes a restriction.
