Which number do you mean?

Example: ZFR5J-11

Do you mean the "-11"?

End numbers -7.-8,-9, etc are wide gaps. For NGKs that is.

Right.

-11 mean a 1.1mm gap (~0.044")

ZFR5J-11 - 5 is the heat rating temperature from hot to cold. The -11 is the wide gap.

You can look up the recommended plug for your engine on NGK's site. If you need something colder, add 1 to the heat range.

ngk bkr7e-11

7e being the heat range, the lower the number, the cooler. 7's is the ideal heat range for your motor

11 being the gap but always check it.

its amazing how many people give advise but dont know what they're talking about.
