Sparco Pro2000 / 4-point Sabelt harness pics/tech/etc
I installed a Sparco Pro2000 seat and 4-point Sabelt harness on Saturday and went autocrossing on Sunday. This car sees autocrossing only, no road course events. I have the 5th/6th point belt and will install a roll bar when/if I go road racing. Maybe next year.
Anyway, the install went fairly smoothly once I got the correct (high grade) hardware and figured out how everything went together. I'm using a Sparco Pro2000 seat, Sparco side mounts, Recaro inside track slider, and Speedware Motorsports bracket.
The only issue I had was getting everything lined up and had to flip one of the sidemounts, ie:
instead of the sidemounts = |_ _|
they = |_ |_ (well they will when I drill a hole, more info below)
I had to do this to get them to line up with the Recaro sliders. I got Recaro sliders because I was told there would have to be some fabrication done to get the Sparco sliders to work with my seat and sidemounts. How much fabrication, I don't know, I was just in a hurry to get it done.
I do, however, have to drill a hole into either the center tunnel or the floorboard for the right hand lapbelt because I currently can not have the eye bolt installed facing out due to it being too close to the center tunnel and not not have the eyebolt installed facing in because it blocks the travel of the slider. Because of this I had to flip the brackets to |_ |_ which puts the seat over to the left too far and isn't the most comfortable position steering wheel wise.
I may also drill a hole for the right side lap belt, though it is currently in the stock seat belt hole.
Rear points are installed in the factory holes for the rear seatbelts.
That's all I can think of off the top of my head, any questions or legit criticism are welcome, didn't have any complaints on the set-up as-is this weekend, though.
Oh, the seat is way comfortable on long drives, I spent a total of 5 hours driving to and from the event this weekend and the only problem I had was trying to not fall asleep.
Great mod for autocrossing, much more so than any power-adding mod will give you.
This is in a 1992 Civic Si and yes, I now regret having a sunroof because the roof is lower and my helmet is way close to the roof.

Nice looking seat Skye. What kind of suspension are you running?
Handles ok. Way too softly sprung, but then again I'd rather have a not-so-stiff suspension to learn on until I just can't drive it any faster as-sis. Getting there.
To-do list = 400f/450r ERS springs, SP3 Konis, Comptech 22mm rear sway/tie, ES master kit... someday. Race tires first.
You should come out sometime... lots of fun...

nice! is it real comfortable? And how easy is it to get in?
4 seat bracket bolts, 4 bracket to slider bolts, 4 slider to side mount bolts, 4 side mount to seat bolts. If you know what you're doing, 30 minutes to swap everything. If you don't, hour or two. (me)

I'll get them to you tomorrow... It's raining too hard outside right now...
But it's straightforward:
Rears are in the two holes straight back from the seat.
Left side is where the shoulder belt connects near the floor.
Right side is on my seat bracket, like how it is on stock seats. (this is the one which I will be mounting to the center tunnel or floor)

i love buckets, i have recaro spg in my daily driver and i think it's more comfortable that any recliner, it keeps you in good posture so you dont get fatigued from slouching, and when taking fast turns you can focus on driving and not holding on. ive sat in the pro200 too and it's very nice. more padded than mine, but alittle wider in the ***.
just a quick question about the 4point belt, was it riding up on you at all? when i dont hook up the submarine belt(5th point), the lap belts ride up to my stomach.

Yeah, they do ride up a bit. I try to get the lap belts as snug as possible to stop some of that though.
Just don't want to install the 5/6 points without a rollbar, although it's 99% unlikely I'll ever flip the damn thing at an autocross...
Spinning out right in front of the timing boxes... well... that's not so unlikely.
