Something broke off my alternator – pic inside
I was inspecting the alternator because my car hasn’t been charging. When lights and other accessories are turned on the belt squeals so I was inspecting the alternator. I saw this almost sparkplug looking thing sort of bent and nasty with rust – when I touched it the thing broke off “as you can see in the pic”. I am thinking this might have been the reason why the car wasn’t charging. Is there an easy way to fix this temporarily – I should be getting a swap very soon.

Solder and/or lots of wound copper wire to keep the connection. With that busted, the circuit is broken and your alternator won't do diddly squat.

That’s what I was thinking about doing – just getting a solder gun and try to connect it. I guess I might have found out why the car wasn’t charging but it was attached – maybe the condition it was in messed the charge up?
