Someone with an Integra or Civic Helms laying around
Could you please tell me what the impedance across the VTEC oil pressure switch should be. Mine is throwing a CEL and I need to check ASAP.

That's what my '96 del Sol (B16A2) manual says.

ummm.... the 14-30 ohms looks like it's the actual Spool valve contact measurement not the pressure switch.
Based on how the trouble shooting reads I think it's simply a switch, connect or no connect. (makes sense with the name also)
based on what I read at >5000rpm it's shorted, at rest it's open.

Here's how the service manual says to test it.
1. Disconnect the 1P connector from the VTEC solenoid valve.
2. Measure resistance between the terminal and body ground.
Resistance: 14-30 ohm
If it doesn't fall within the resistance given it says to replace the solenoid valve. This is solely based off of the Helm's/Service Manual.

right, that’s for the VTEC solenoid, but he said the VTEC oil pressure switch. different beast an inch from there. It's mentioned exactly one section in front of the one that lists the 14-30 ohms.
Maybe I'm being too literal, it would make more sense that he was looking for the solenoid measurement.....

You are right in your thinking. Leafing through the pages of the Service Manual again, I can't find any impedance limits for the Oil Pressure Switch. They have a test for it, which is approx. 12V over 5,000 RPM's. I was assuming that he may have meant the VTEC solenoid.

I did infact mean the oil pressure switch and NOT the VTEC solenoid.
The reason I ask is because occasionally I get a CEL reading #22 (OBDI) which is VTEC oil pressure switch.

indicates defective circuit or unplugged / defective oil pressure switch.
could mean your switch is going bad.
could mean your oil pressure is low.
(oil level will do this as well as bad oil pump)
probibly a bad connection.

blown head gasket will cause white smoke out the exhaust and coolant loss as well as loss of power but I don't think it will cause that much of a loss of oil pressure without obvious smoke out the tailpipe. But it depends on what happened when it blew and where it's blown out.
are you suspecting that?

Yes I am suspecting that. It overheated at one point and I found the unmistakable "Milkshake" in the over flow tank.
There is no smoke or anything though.....

quick compression test should be a good indicator as to the condition of the head gasket. That and monitor your coolant level.
