How to check your existing caliper:
- unbolt the caliper from the caliper mounting bracket
- Remove the caliper mounting bracket from the car
- Remove, CLEAN, re-lube & reinstall each guide pin one at a time so they don't get mixed up
- Work all the air out of the pin holes so the pins stay pushed in all the way
- Lube the thin metal plates that the pads slide back & forth on
- Reinstall everything
- Test Drive
If any of the pins are stuck in the mounting bracket, that is where your caliper is seized. If you can find just the mounting bracket with pins & boots for sale, it will be much cheaper & easier than buying/replacing the entire caliper (no messing with brake fluid)...
To answer your other question: Yes an integra rear caliper will fit your civic. The only problem you may run into is if the brake hoses are different. If the integra caliper doesn't mate to your civic brake hose, you will have to get the integra brake line from the same year integra as the caliper. Then everything will work perfectly. If you do buy a used caliper, try to get one that comes with the brake hose Included. That will solve any possible problems...

How do you know it's the piston that won't release. I can't really see how that could happen (I could be wrong). Remember that it is not possible to just "push" the rear piston back into the caliper. You have to screw it in. You may want to try screwing it in to see if that helps the piston to work properly again...

Also check to make sure that the Parking Brake Cable is not binding, and is properly adjusted.
