my brother has a 1995 honda civic dx and we just put in a sohc zc vtec...i wired up the vtec or i thought the check engine light comes on whenever you get on it but not intil the end of second gear. we are running a d16z6 engine harness on it and a p28 ecu....i ran the two vtec wires but i was told that i need to ground it to, but if i am running the z6 harness isnt it already grounded? i could use any help i can get

the one wire coming from the vtec solenoid goes directly to the ecu...one of the wires on the oil pressure switch you have to manually ground and the other goes straight to the ecu aswell

Yeah because I was thinking, didn't VTEC technology make the ZC obselete?
I knew something was amiss. Im still new for Honda, so Im not certain on specific older things like that, but I think Im coming around nicely.

Why are people so stupid? There's a buttload of ZC motors, not just the DOHC. If you don't know what the expletive you're talking about, shut the expletive up! M'kay?
All of the following motors have "ZC" on the engine block.
DOHC non vtec
SOHC non vtec OBD0
SOHC vtec OBD1 <---- he has this one
SOHC 3 stage vtec OBD2
The VTEC solenoid that came on your ZC motor doesn't have the vtec oil pressure switch. This switch comes on USDM VTEC motors and is there to prevent you from going into VTEC if your oil pressure is low. It's not necessary.
Your P28 has a VTEC output and a VTEC oil pressure input. So what you can do is to connect both wires to the VTEC output. The VTEC output grounds when your engine goes into VTEC, thus providing a ground for your VTEC input.
As for the actual pins, you'll have to search or send me $$$ and I'll take a pic of my ECU.
